Jay-Z Replaced By Shakir Stewart At Def Jam

Island Def Jam has announced the replacement for Jay-Z, following his resignation as the CEO of Def Jam in December last year.

Shakir Stewart has stepped in for the influential hip-hop label, now in its 24th year and his new position includes signing new names, overseeing producers and guiding the creative vision of the label.

Stewart is no stranger to the hip-hop world after working with the company already as the senior VP of A&R, while his early days saw him promoting live shows from Nas, Too $hort and many more.

Elsewhere for other labels, he has been responsible for signing or working with huge names like Destiny's Child, Ciara, Outkast, Usher and more.
